On June 20th the first ever Street People Jam took place in Les Ulis, a city deep in suburbs of Paris, France. Organized by street legend Thomas Caillard, the goal of the event was to introduce kids from the suburbs to BMX street riding. Maxime Charveron and his fellow team mates, along with the Animal crew from New York, gave a powerful display of how BMX can change a suburb into an urban playground.

This just in: Exciting news from our BMX division: The Chicago stop of the 2009 Dew Tour, officially dubbed the Nike 6.0 BMX Open, is only a few days away! On June 26 and 27, Chi-Town will host the first-ever BMX-only Dew Tour, and Nike 6.0 is the headline sponsor. This, dear friends, is not to be missed!

As the chief sponsor, 6.0 is stepping up the game by introducing a “true street competition.” Held in addition to the traditional park, vert and dirt disciplines judged solely on the riding, this street event is a half-video, half-jam competition between three teams of three riders chosen by team captains. The teams will be judged both by scores from a jam session held on June 26 and a video part created prior to the jam. Nike 6.0 powerhouse Garrett Reynolds joins Van Homan and Sean Sexton as team captains (all chosen because of their respectable X Games 14 podium finishes), and Reynolds picked fellow 6.0 rider Dennis Enarson as one of his right-hand men. We expect to see some insane street happenings–both on film and in the jam!

But wait that ain’t all. In celebration of the event, Chicago will be thick with 6.0-ness. We’re taking over the Chicago NikeTown, and keep an eye out for our ads that’ve been pasted on city trains around town! At the competition proper, the Nike 6.0 Yurt will be the spot to eyeball all our latest products and get some free schwag and even an autograph from your favorite 6.0 team rider.

Last but not least, we’ll also be breaking a brand new 3-D animation technology called Augmented Reality. Yep, watch Mike Spinner make his magic in three dimensions, simply by holding his ad (featured on the back of the Dew Tour handbook) in front of a computer camera at the 6.0 Yurt (you can also peep it at home in front of your own computer camera).

So yeah, the Nike 6.0 BMX Open–it’s a bunch of amazing stuff packed into one sizzling summer weekend, so don’t sleep on it, son!

Europe is known for culture, sophistication and decorum. Thanks to the Nike 6.0 BMX team, it’s now known as a place to drop hammers and do work on two wheels. The guys packed up their bikes, threw some threads together and headed across the pond for a good ol’ fashion European vacation. Thankfully the crew was kind enough to shoot some viddy for those of us locked in the BMX backwash. Check it out.

Ryan Dungey has carried his momentum from the Lites Western Regional Supercross title straight into the outdoor season with a win in the 250 Class (check out this video recap).

Dungey’s second win of the season came on the heels of an impressive moto two victory, which followed up a second-place finish in the first moto. The Minnesota native has claimed the second moto in each of the three races in 2009.

“It is my third year and I’m still at the beginning of my career the way I look at it,” stated Dungey. “I feel like I belong here and thinking like I feel that I need to step up. There aren’t any excuses and I can’t expect anything less. I need to take every opportunity and grab a hold of it. They did an awesome job today with the whole track. They left the ruts and I really thought it would be one lined, but it was great.”

The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship continues with round four next Saturday, June 13 from Mt. Morris, Pa. for the Monster Energy National at High Point Raceway. Coverage of next weekend’s race can be seen live on NBC, Saturday, June 13 at 4:30 p.m. ET.

The Nat-ural won the Grade 3, Arnette All Day Antics Pro Junior presented by Jack’s Surfboards in two-to-three foot surf at 56th street in Newport Beach, California topping fellow finalists Keanu Asing, Cory Arrambide and Cody Thompson.

Nat’s dominating performance in the Arnette All Day Antics illustrated why he is a threat in every ASP North America Pro Junior Series event. The humble goofy-footer annihilated his competition today and jumped out to an early lead in the Final, posting two average scores before smashing an 8.25 out of 10 on his last wave to solidify the win.

“The Final was kind of weird,” Young said. “There weren’t many good waves, so I just tried to stay busy and keep improving my scores and luckily on that last wave I got two good turns in and got a solid score.”

The Santa Cruz native’s lightning-quick forehand approach and impeccable wave selection on the racy lefthanders at 56th Street played a critical role in his impressive showing.

“I think it definitely helps to be on your forehand out here on these lefts,” Young said. “It’s pretty fast, but in the end you’ve really just got to get the best waves out there. It’s whoever gets the best waves.”

The Arnette All Day Antics Pro Junior victory by Young will play a critical role in his quest toward re-qualification for next year’s ASP World Junior Championships and will launch him toward the top of the 2009 ASP North America Pro Junior Series ratings.

“I’m stoked to win the Grade-3,” Young said. “This is my first win of the year and it’s especially good because of the extra points, so it’s important for this year.”

The next ASP North America Pro Junior Series event will be the ASP Grade-4 Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure presented by Jack’s from June 28-29, 2009.
