Tucker Perkins - Ski

Tucker Perkins started skiing when most toddlers are learning to walk. Although growing up in North Hampton, NH, didn’t offer him the same easy access to the mountain as most of his competitors, his parents hauled him up to the mountain enough to practice 18-20 hours a week. He started out as a mogul skier, but soon found himself being drawn more to the natural terrain and jumps. As freeskiing became more of a competition-based sport, it was a natural transition for him. The ski industry first took notice of Tucker at age 14 when he was selected out of 157 skiers and snowboarders for the Sports Illustrated for Kids “NextSnow Team,” a television talent search that showcases the future of skiing and snowboarding. For a young athlete, it was the exact exposure he needed to land sponsorships. Since then, he has abandoned the “Ice Coast” for more favorable terrain in Park City, UT, where he trains daily at the former Olympic Superpipe with his coach, former U.S. Ski Team Olympian Britt Swartley. “You have to work hard and be very persistent,” Tucker said, “I’m very lucky to be doing this. It’s all I want to do.”
